Who we are
Backstory Health (“Backstory”, “we”, “us”) is run by 73mobile LLC, a company incorporated in New York, USA. These terms are an agreement between you and 73mobile LLC. They cover the Backstory app, this website and the early access list. By using any of them, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Not medical advice
Backstory reads your reports and puts your results on one timeline. It shows each result against the range printed by the lab that produced it, tracks findings and reminders taken from your doctors’ own recommendations, and makes a summary you can share. It does not interpret results, diagnose, treat or give medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor. Always talk to a qualified health professional about your health. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Check what Backstory reads
Backstory uses an outside AI service to read your documents. Reading can make mistakes, for example with a blurry photo or an unusual report layout. Every value links back to the page it came from, so you can check it. You are responsible for checking values against the original report before you rely on them or share them. We are not responsible for decisions made on a value that was read incorrectly.
Who can use Backstory
You must be 18 or older to join the early access list or use Backstory. Parents and legal guardians can keep their children’s records in their own Backstory. If you add records about someone else, such as a child or a parent you care for, you confirm you have the right to do so.
Your records
You own the records and information you add. You give us permission to process them only as needed to run Backstory for you: to read them, show them on your timeline, send reminders and create the summaries you ask for. We never sell your health records and never use them for ads. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.
Your records are stored on your own phone. Keep your phone and its backups secure. If you lose your phone or delete the app, your records may be lost.
Plans and payments
- Free: $0, up to 10 documents, timeline and trend charts, and Apple Health import.
- Backstory Plus: $59 a year or $6.99 a month. Unlimited documents, the findings tracker and reminders, and the one-page doctor summary.
- Founding member: Backstory Plus for $29 a year, for life, instead of $59. Only for people on the early access list.
Paid plans are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are billed by them. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. Prices shown are in US dollars, and local taxes may apply. If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you before the change applies to your subscription. Founding member prices don’t change: you keep $29 a year for life, even if you cancel and come back later.
The early access list
Joining the early access list is free and doesn’t commit you to buying anything. Backstory is not open yet. Features, plans and dates may change before and after launch. We will email you when Backstory opens.
Fair use
Please don’t misuse Backstory. Don’t break the law with it, upload anything you don’t have the right to upload, try to access other people’s data, interfere with the service, or copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. We may suspend or close access if these terms are broken.
Other services
Backstory works with services run by other companies, such as the App Store, Google Play, Apple Health and the AI service that reads your documents. Their own terms apply to your use of them.
Our content
The Backstory name, logo, app, website and articles belong to 73mobile LLC. You may use them only to use Backstory as intended. Articles on our blog are general information about organizing records, not medical advice.
Service “as is”
We work hard to keep Backstory accurate, secure and available, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always be available, error-free or that every value will be read correctly.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, 73mobile LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data stored on your phone. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Backstory in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you haven’t paid anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Ending your use
You can stop using Backstory at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription. You can ask us to delete your early access list details at hello@73mobile.com.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. If you live in the UK, Ireland or another country with mandatory consumer protection laws, you keep the protections of those laws and can bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a problem, please email us first and we will try to fix it.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update them on this page and change the date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell you before it applies.
